The A-List is one of my favorite chick lit series. It is centered around Anna Percy, a proper Manhattan-bred 18-year-old who flies out to Beverly Hills to stay with her dad, because she wants to stir up her life a little bit. On the plane ride over, she meets Ben Birnbaum, a Princeton student, and the opposite type of boy her mother would approve of. They go to Jackson Sharpe's wedding (he's, in my opinion, the real-life equal to George Clooney) where they meet Sam Sharpe, a girl insecure of her size 10 body, Cammie, the bodacious bitchy vixen, and Dee, the ethereal dreamy pixie. Drama ensues.
I tried reading Gossip Girl, but soon came back to this series. It's just so much more lax (probably the L.A. setting) and I like the characters more. The only bad thing is that Anna Percy is superbeautiful, superrich, supersmart, supernice, and superperfect. Sometimes it's superannoying. But, really, what do you expect?
*Series for fifteen and older (although I started at 13. :) Lots of swearing, sex, and minor drug use :P Still a juicy read :)
